(Gen. 1:26) ¡ “…in Our image” n God the Father: Divine Authority, order, unwavering n God the Son: sacrifice, salvation, Head of the Church, Intercessor n God the Holy Spirit: Comforter, Director, Teacher, Spirit of Truth ¡ When people see you, they should sense the presence of God in your life. Do you really want to be a Godly man? ¡ Is your goal to make it to heaven only? Or, is it to advance the Kingdom of God in the process? What does it take? # 1: Surrender ¡ You have to die to yourself. (Rom. 10:9-10; Mat. 16:24; Gal. 5:24) ¡ You must surrender your past and future to Christ. (2 Cor. 5:17, Phil. 3:13-14) ¡ You must surrender pride (Prov. 11:2; Prov. 16:18) # 2: You must be a man of faith ¡ God must be first (Mat. 6:33; Prov. 3:5) ¡ Are you striving to be more like Christ? (Phil. 3:7-14) ¡ Are you a man of the Word? #3: You must understand divine order and divine authority –¬¬ Gen. 2:7-24 Divine Order ¡ Notice that man (male) was created and that Eve was taken from Adam (Gen. 2:22) ¡ God teaches how crucial maintaining divine order (Gen. 3:6; Rom. 5:19) ¡ Man is to lead the family by example as Christ leads the Church (Eph. 5:23) ¡ Lack of order at home is a disqualifier for higher office in the Church (1 Tim. 3:1-13) ¡ Lack of order in one generation leads to trouble in the next (Tit. 2:1-5) Divine Authority ¡ Note that God established parameters for man (Gen. 2:16-17) è AUTHORITY ALWAYS COMES WITH PARAMETERS (1 Pet. 3:7) è IF YOU DON’T SUBMIT TO GOD, DON’T EXPECT OTHERS TO SUBMIT TO YOU (Mat. 8:9,1 Cor. 11:1-3) ¡ Note that God made man the authority to name every living creature (Gen. 2:19, 23; Luke 1:13, 57-66) ¡ God gave Adam authority over all that He made him steward over (Gen. 1:26) # 4: You must realize that you are a steward –¬¬ Gen. 2:15 ¡ Of the family (Josh. 24:15), finances, time, body, etc. è HEALTHY FAMILIES MAKE HEALTHY CHURCHES ¡ Of your temper (Eph. 4:26-27) # 5: You must be a man of integrity –¬¬ Psalm 26 Integrity: the quality or state of being complete or undivided (Webster) ¡ It will make or break you. (Prov. 11:3) ¡ Your children will be blessed. (Prov. 20:7) WORK TO HEAR FROM GOD WORK AT HOME WORK WITH THEIR WIVES WORK WITH THEIR CHILDREN WORK AT CHURCH WORK TO PROVIDE
