Beware of “Special Occasions”

noinviteHave you ever found yourself finally moving in the right direction in your relationship with God then slipping?  It might not have been intended on your part, yet it still happened.  I mean everything was going well.  You were starting to pray more, study more and even worship more.  And still – it happened. It was the invitation to the “special occasion”.  Because it was so appealing, you didn’t even stop to read where it came from.  You were invited to have a “little” fun – just this once.  The problem is that it only takes once to wreak havoc in your life – just one “special occasion”. You see, once we come to know Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we are freed from the bondage of sin and death.  Yet, we must be more alert now so that we don’t allow our freedom and liberty to be interpreted by our flesh that it’s okay to do a little “something something” every once in a while.  Now we must beware of the “special occasions” that the devil presents to us. Galatians 5:13: “For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.”  Enjoy the new life in Christ and beware of those “special occasions”.
