Isa 9:6-7 KJV For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. (7) Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
Distractions are an unfortunate part of life. They come in many shapes and sizes. The purpose of a distraction is to prevent you from giving your full attention to someone or something. For believers, distractions tend to show up when we say we are going to worship our God.
During this Christmas season, are you distracted from the real reason for the season? We are not here to celebrate getting and receiving gifts from others. Christmas is about Jesus birthday. It is about Christ coming into the world just as was prophesied to be the perfect sacrifice for our sins and to redeem us for God the Father.
How would you feel if your loved ones gave each other gifts on your birthday and barely; if at all, acknowledge you on your birthday? Christmas should be about celebrating Christmas birth. Celebrate by worshipping Him this week.
Scriptures to focus on this week: Isaiah 9:6-7; Micah 5:2; Matthew 2:1-12
