Acts 16:25-26 KJV And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every ones bands were loosed.
Desperate times calls for desperate action. That is what some people will say when they find their back up against the wall. They may begin to call on family, friends, or even foes for help and no one responds. It is only out of pure desperation, after all other efforts have failed, do they call on God. We need to praise Him that He is not like man and gives us opportunities to return to Him.
When Paul and Silas were in jail, they didn’t wallow, blame God, or try to talk their way out. They prayed and praised God, and God responded. God opened the prison doors and loosed not only the bands of Paul and Silas, but every prisoner’s bands. Everyone near them benefited from their prayer and praise. God will always respond when we focus on Him instead of our situation.
How is your praise affecting those near you?
