June 11-17, 2017: The Witness – Purpose in the Pain

Gen 50:20-21 KJV  “But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.  (21)  Now therefore fear ye not: I will nourish you, and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spake kindly unto them.”

Have you ever wanted to ask God why you had to go through a painful experience?  If so, you are not alone.  We all have endured situations that brought us great pain and anguish.  While in the midst of a painful situation,  it is not always easy to understand the purpose of the trial.  It is then that we must simply trust God.

Joseph endured a series of tremendous trials that could have destroyed his faith in God.  Despite being hurt by family and strangers, he was able to trust that God would work things out for him.  Even when the opportunity presented itself to get even with those who hurt him, Joseph chose to be a witness for God.  His witness of forgiveness and his testimony of the divine providence of God should challenge each of us today.

There is a purpose behind what you have gone through.  That circumstance may be the very thing that God wants to use to provide you a platform to share Christ with others.

Scriptures to focus on this week:  2 Cor. 1:4; Romans 8:28; James 1:2-8
